Overview

Network management lived in the hardware, not in a product. Customers configured their home network through router firmware, mobile apps, and a smart display in development, and each surface spoke its own language. The same object was a device in one place and equipment in another. Wi-Fi network names read like part numbers. Settings people needed weekly sat three levels down.

I designed across all three surfaces and led two designers alongside me. The work was to give network management one vocabulary and one set of patterns, so the experience held together no matter which screen a customer reached for. Two of those surfaces, the smart display and a multimodal AI assistant, never reached market. Both taught me how AI products actually get built: the flows, the logic, the working rhythm with engineering and product. The patterns outlived the products.
